About Jonia Mariechild
I’m inspired by the following quote written by Rachel Naomi Remen from her book, “Kitchen Table Wisdom”:
Joy seems to be part of an unconditional wish to live, not holding back because life does not meet our preferences or expectations. Joy seems to be a function of the willingness to accept the whole and to show up to meet with whatever is there. It has a kind of invincibility that attachment to any particular outcome would deny us. The willingness to win or lose moves us out of an adversarial relationship to life and into a powerful kind of openness. From such a position, we can life make a greater commitment to life. Not only a pleasurable life, or our idea of life, but all life. Joy seems more closely related to aliveness than to happiness. More about trusting one’s ability take joy in the newness of the day and what it may bring.”
Jonia Mariechild is a consultant, coach, and growth facilitator, in the service professions since 1986. Her work focuses on healing the after-effects of traumas such as surgery, accidental injury, and the loss and disappointment experiences of life. Since these traumas often impact one’s ability to express creatively, experience peak performance, communicate compassionately, and build satisfying relationships at work and in life, many leaders and professional organizations across the country deeply value her work.
In order to bring enriched and inspired experience to her clients, Jonia has spent many years working in sectors considered daunting, including: eating disorders, sexual assault and abuse, and corrections institutions. Her ability to embrace a wide range of human experience has prepared her well for the compassionate assistance she now provides individuals, family systems, work groups, and communities. She is often called on to provide executive coaching, team building, family or organizational systems process, and non-violent communication coaching.
Jonia founded the Holistic Health Education Center in the Midwest in 1989, which focused on the link between the body, trauma recovery, and emotional wellness. She holds a Masters Degree in Allied Health Counseling, is a certified practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and has been mentored at the Institute for Relationship Therapy. She is influenced by the Nonviolent Communication work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg and her extensive bodywork training inspired her creation of Hara Awareness Education which facilitates the process of compassionate communication between the body/mind.
